Dr. Samriti Sood is a highly respected Specialist Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon dedicated to delivering personalised, holistic care for women across all stages of their breast health journey. With a clinical focus on breast surgical oncology, Dr. Sood integrates advanced, evidence-based research with cutting-edge oncoplastic techniques. Her practice is defined by a commitment to compassionate care, ensuring that every patient receives a treatment plan tailored to their unique medical, physical, and emotional needs.

Recognising that a breast cancer diagnosis is a profound and often stressful experience, Dr. Sood places patient empowerment at the centre of her practice. She offers sophisticated reconstructive options—such as therapeutic mammaplasty and nipple-sparing mastectomy—which support women in making informed, confident choices regarding their body image and long-term quality of life. In addition to her oncological focus, Dr. Sood manages a wide range of general acute general surgical conditions at Royal North Shore Hospital (on call acute general surgery).

Samriti graduated with honours in medicine from The University of New South Wales. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, a member of General Surgeons Australia and the BreastSurgANZ Society. After completing general surgical training across major tertiary and regional NSW/ACT hospitals, she completed a Masters of Surgery and a Graduate Certificate in Surgery (Breast Surgery) from The University of Sydney. She then spent two years gaining extensive post-fellowship training and experience in Breast Oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery across Northern Sydney Area Health Network hospitals and Westmead hospital.

Academic Leadership and Commitment to Education

Dr. Sood is a passionate advocate for the advancement of surgical standards. For nearly a decade, she has served as a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney, where she is helping shape the future of the specialty. In this capacity, she provides rigorous post-fellowship training to surgeons across Australia and New Zealand through the University’s Graduate Certificate in Advanced Breast Surgery—the very program she once completed to refine her own expertise.

Her dedication to education extends to her role on the Board of Directors for the Australasian Society for Breast Disease (ASBD). As the Director of Surgery, Dr. Sood plays a key role in the society’s mission to provide high-quality, multidisciplinary education for breast cancer clinicians, ensuring that the broader medical community remains at the forefront of modern surgical innovation.
