Information for Referring Doctors
Thank you for considering Breast & Surgical Oncology at The Poche Centre for your patients. We welcome referrals from GPs and specialists across Sydney and New South Wales and are committed to providing timely, expert assessment and clear, detailed correspondence to keep you informed at every stage of your patient's care.

How to Refer
Referrals can be sent to our practice by Healthlink, fax or post. Please include relevant clinical history, current medications, imaging reports, and any recent pathology results with your referral. The more clinical context you provide, the better prepared we are to make the most of your patient's first appointment.

For patients who require an urgent appointment, please contact our surgeons directly by phone. We prioritise urgent referrals and can typically see patients with new breast cancer diagnoses or concerning breast symptoms within a few days.

Conditions We See
Our practice accepts referrals for a wide range of breast and general surgical conditions. We see patients with new breast cancer diagnoses at any stage, suspicious or indeterminate breast findings on imaging or clinical examination, breast lumps and masses (benign and malignant), breast pain, nipple discharge, breast shape and skin changes, breast infection and mastitis, breast asymmetry and developmental breast conditions, high-risk patients requiring surveillance or risk management including those with a family history of breast cancer or known BRCA mutations, patients considering risk-reducing surgery, and general surgical conditions including inguinal, femoral, umbilical and incisional hernia repair, gallstones and laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and skin and subcutaneous lesion removal.
Prof Andrew Spillane
Andrew is a medical graduate of the University of Tasmania, founding executive member and past President of Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand Inc. (BreastSurgANZ).
A/Prof Kylie Snook
Clinical A/Prof Kylie Snook FRACS, is a Sydney-based breast surgeon with over two decades of clinical experience. She holds public appointments as a Visiting Medical Officer at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.
Dr Samriti Sood
Dr. Samriti Sood is a highly respected Specialist Breast Oncoplastic Surgeon dedicated to delivering personalised, holistic care for women across all stages of their breast health journey.
All three surgeons have dedicated post-fellowship training in oncoplastic breast surgery. Every patient with a new breast cancer diagnosis is reviewed at our multidisciplinary team meeting before a treatment plan is finalised.
Hospitals and Access
Our surgeons operate across both the private and public hospital systems, providing broad access for your patients regardless of their insurance status.
Private hospitals: The Mater Hospital North Sydney, North Shore Private Hospital, Hunters Hill Private Hospital.
Public hospitals: Royal North Shore Hospital, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital, Northern Beaches Hospital.
Consultations are held at The Poche Centre, 40 Rocklands Road, North Sydney NSW 2060 — directly opposite The Mater Hospital.
Correspondence and Communication
We understand the importance of timely and complete communication with referring doctors. Following each consultation, a detailed letter is sent to the referring GP or specialist covering the clinical findings, investigations ordered or pending, the recommended management plan, and any follow-up arrangements. Correspondence is typically dispatched within five to seven business days of the appointment.
